Hallo miteinander,
Danke.

Hi everyone,
By now I've adjusted pretty well to work life. I still lead the kids church in the indigenous church in town. Numbers went down while I was on holidays so now we only have about 20-25 kids. Well, they still keep me running ;-)
Next week spring break is going to start and since we not only have a discipleship training school team here but also a youth group from Melbourne, I had the idea of running a vacation bible school for the kids. This would only last 3 days since the teams are leaving then but better than nothing.
Well, when I prayed about the topic for those three days, I was aware that it should be about God's Kingdom and their identity in Christ (princes and princesses of God). Unfortunately I couldn't find a curriculum for that, so I started to make it up from scratch. I don't really have a lot of experience with all that but it will work out somehow.
It will already start next week and I still need to plan and organise a lot. Both teams are going to arrive on Friday and until then, most of it has to be done. So, I only have 3 1/2 days left to get it all done.
Please pray for creativity and also that we will be able to do a carwash at a local gas station so that we get some funds for the school (for materials and such).
Wednesday we will all help at a school program that is done by a Catholic organisation (so that day actually will not be a planning day after all). The school program will be about Christian principles so it should be a good time. I'd appreciate if you would keep those dates in your prayers. Thank you.

Was momentan in Townsville los ist/ What's happening at the base in Townsville
I have already told you that YWAM Australia bought a ship to perform surgeries and that they will be going to Papua New Guinea. You should definitely watch the promo video that the Townsville base created. Just click on the title (link)!

Mitarbeiterfreizeit & Badbewohner / Staff Retreat & bathroom mate
****english version below***
As many of you know, I did my discipleship training school in Townsville and our outreach was to PNG. I really love that country and had hoped that I could go back there again at some point. Well, maybe we will do an outreach there at some point, too.
Coming back from camping I was looking forward to use a toilet without big bush ants (that bite you in your butt if you don’t pay attention). But I was ready for a surprise: I also had a bathroom mate in my own bathroom. A big green tree frog was getting comfortable in my toilet bowl.
The next day he even brought a little friend who was sitting on the toilet roll. The first night – tired and all- I gave up and used Markus bathroom. But the following night I had no mercy: The frog was flushed down. It took me 6 flushes and the assistance of the toilet brush to get the frog down. His friend was watching him with teary eyes. I learnt on the staff retreat that one of my strength is empathy. So I can emphasize well with others. The only problem with that strength is that I immediately felt sorry for the little frog. Maybe I had flushed down his mentor and he was all by himself now. Or even worse, maybe it was his father. Maybe I was like the hunter in Bambi. I felt guilty.
The following night, the little frog sat all by himself, mourning, in the toilet bowl. I wanted to make the grieving process easier for him so I flushed him down, too. J It only took one flush. Maybe now the movie changed from “Bambi II” to “Finding Kermit”.
There was another little frog in my bathroom yesterday (I don’t know how he fits into this family drama). He was sitting on my bathroom shelves but he fit so well with my bathroom decoration, that he was allowed to stay.
Check out the pictures of that frog and the big one in my toilet bowl (before he died).

Hi, I’m back from the staff retreat (camping). It was nice to see my friends from Townsville again.
For all of you that aren’t aware of it: Our team in Mt Isa still belongs to the base in Townsville, we are actually just one ministry area /department of the base – kinda like field force.
There is a lot going in Townsville at the moment. One of the main components is a ship that Reef to Outback has bought. It’s a ship able to perform surgeries of many kinds. It will go to several Australian ports to inform about the work and then further to Papua New Guinea (PNG). PNG is one of the main topics anyway, many outreaches go there, we work together with the government. All that talk fills me with longing for that country.

Zurück in Australien / Back in Oz
Man weiß ja nie…

Hi everybody,
It’s been awhile that I wrote the last time. I’m really sorry. I’ve been back in Mt Isa for three weeks and in the beginning, I was totally exhausted from my vacations. Isn’t it ironic that you need rest from your vacation?!
As most of you know, we live somewhere else now, i.e. a camping site.
While I was away, a lot has changed and even within these past three weeks there were many changes which makes it difficult to feel at home just yet.
I moved twice the past three weeks and I hope that I’m going to stay in my current place(a donga or small furnished container) for at least the next half year…you never know…
On top of that we cannot run our youth program „Youth Street“ at the local PCYC (Police Citizen Youth Club) any longer and need to find a new venue.
It’s a little hard to deal with the different changes, the transition for some of us. Some of us also have personal changes going on in their lives.
Please also pray for Adam and Jill. Someone broke into their apartment today (they don’t live at the caravan park) but it seems that besides some American cash nothing got stolen. Praise the Lord.
But there are also some good news: We have the chance to share an office with the caravan park staff. It’s our first real office! Yeah!!!
The caravan park owner has been really generous and nice. I live in a bigger container now with a little kitchenette (without oven) and my own outside bathroom.
When everything is decorated – at the moment I still miss some things like a wardrobe so that it’s still a little chaotic and I can’t even do anything about it- I can finally have people over for dinner. Yay.
I do have to get used to living alone though. These past years I’ve always lived with people. Besides we’ve had a really busy schedule this past year. Now that we have more time on our hands (since we can’t run Youth Street) and now that I live alone, I do feel somewhat lonely at times. I haven’t been able to build good friendships these past 1 ½ years, mostly because of our schedule but also because there aren’t any young adults in my church. Maybe you could pray for some to come J
Tomorrow, on Saturday, a group from Adam’s church is coming to do some mission work with us for two weeks and to see what Adam has been up to.
On Sunday the rest of our group go close to Townsville, to go camping together with the Townsville base. It’s going to be a retreat for all of us staff. We will see how that’s gonna be. It’s supposed to be quite cold at the moment since it’s still winter down here.
I’ll be back a week later. Talk to you then.

Wer liest diesen Blog regelmäßig? / Who reads this blog on a regular basis?
I still want to keep you guys informed but I have decided to keep my blog very general from now on. This is because of personal but also ministry-related reasons.
These past weeks I've been struggling with the question of what I would still write on this blog; that's why I haven't mentioned many of the cool things that have happened.
Anyway, a few of you get this blog and my other -not published on the internet- updates as emails. With you everything will stay as it has been. But there are also a few who I don't know or I might not have your email adress. Please contact me here if you would like to keep informed in a more personal way. Then I will add you to my mailing list.

Endlich alles erledigt! Finally everything done!

I'm coming home! I know that nothing new but after so much craziness of planning this trip, I'm glad that I'm done booking it. Well, almost: I still have to send the fax with my signatures to the travel agency tomorrow (I have to go to my church here for that since we don't have a fax machine). But then it will really be complete and done.
I will arrive at home on the 7th of June and I'll be leaving for the US on the 30th of June.
Well, now I have to plan my time at home.
If you'd like me to talk about the ministry here in your house group or if you'd like to hear about my work (maybe over a coffee ;-)), please drop me an email.
My time in Germany didn't really feel like holidays at all the previous time since I went from one appointment to the next to talk about my ministry. That's why I have decided to only dedicate the beginning of my time (until the 19th of June)in Germany for appointments like that. Afterwards, I'd like to just enjoy my time being home with my family and friends. I hope you understand!

Visum / Visa
******************************************************************************
Hooray, I just received the news that my visa application has been approved. Praise the Lord! Now I can go into the final stages of planing my holidays. It might sound a little weird but I really need wisdom for that. A couple of things have changed and it could have an effect on everything else. But I hope and pray that I will have planned and locked everything in by next week.
