Ferienbibelschule / Vacation Bible School

Hallo miteinander,

Danke.

Hi everyone,
By now I've adjusted pretty well to work life. I still lead the kids church in the indigenous church in town. Numbers went down while I was on holidays so now we only have about 20-25 kids. Well, they still keep me running ;-)

Next week spring break is going to start and since we not only have a discipleship training school team here but also a youth group from Melbourne, I had the idea of running a vacation bible school for the kids. This would only last 3 days since the teams are leaving then but better than nothing.

Well, when I prayed about the topic for those three days, I was aware that it should be about God's Kingdom and their identity in Christ (princes and princesses of God). Unfortunately I couldn't find a curriculum for that, so I started to make it up from scratch. I don't really have a lot of experience with all that but it will work out somehow.

It will already start next week and I still need to plan and organise a lot. Both teams are going to arrive on Friday and until then, most of it has to be done. So, I only have 3 1/2 days left to get it all done.
Please pray for creativity and also that we will be able to do a carwash at a local gas station so that we get some funds for the school (for materials and such).
Wednesday we will all help at a school program that is done by a Catholic organisation (so that day actually will not be a planning day after all). The school program will be about Christian principles so it should be a good time. I'd appreciate if you would keep those dates in your prayers. Thank you.

Was momentan in Townsville los ist/ What's happening at the base in Townsville

I have already told you that YWAM Australia bought a ship to perform surgeries and that they will be going to Papua New Guinea. You should definitely watch the promo video that the Townsville base created. Just click on the title (link)!

Mitarbeiterfreizeit & Badbewohner / Staff Retreat & bathroom mate

****english version below***

Hi, I’m back from the staff retreat (camping). It was nice to see my friends from Townsville again.
For all of you that aren’t aware of it: Our team in Mt Isa still belongs to the base in Townsville, we are actually just one ministry area /department of the base – kinda like field force.
There is a lot going in Townsville at the moment. One of the main components is a ship that Reef to Outback has bought. It’s a ship able to perform surgeries of many kinds. It will go to several Australian ports to inform about the work and then further to Papua New Guinea (PNG). PNG is one of the main topics anyway, many outreaches go there, we work together with the government. All that talk fills me with longing for that country.

As many of you know, I did my discipleship training school in Townsville and our outreach was to PNG. I really love that country and had hoped that I could go back there again at some point. Well, maybe we will do an outreach there at some point, too.

Coming back from camping I was looking forward to use a toilet without big bush ants (that bite you in your butt if you don’t pay attention). But I was ready for a surprise: I also had a bathroom mate in my own bathroom. A big green tree frog was getting comfortable in my toilet bowl.

The next day he even brought a little friend who was sitting on the toilet roll. The first night – tired and all- I gave up and used Markus bathroom. But the following night I had no mercy: The frog was flushed down. It took me 6 flushes and the assistance of the toilet brush to get the frog down. His friend was watching him with teary eyes. I learnt on the staff retreat that one of my strength is empathy. So I can emphasize well with others. The only problem with that strength is that I immediately felt sorry for the little frog. Maybe I had flushed down his mentor and he was all by himself now. Or even worse, maybe it was his father. Maybe I was like the hunter in Bambi. I felt guilty.

The following night, the little frog sat all by himself, mourning, in the toilet bowl. I wanted to make the grieving process easier for him so I flushed him down, too. J It only took one flush. Maybe now the movie changed from “Bambi II” to “Finding Kermit”.

There was another little frog in my bathroom yesterday (I don’t know how he fits into this family drama). He was sitting on my bathroom shelves but he fit so well with my bathroom decoration, that he was allowed to stay.
Check out the pictures of that frog and the big one in my toilet bowl (before he died).
