I just realised that I haven't written on here for awhile but I was also pretty busy. Not only that we have the outreach team from Townsville here, there will be four teams from different corners of Australia be coming in April. One of the teams will have about 30 members. That means there is a lot to plan (which is one of my responsibilities). It's cool to see how many want to come to Mt Isa.
My week has gotten a lot fuller these days. One of these coming days I will put my new schedule on here so that you have a clue what's going on in me week.

Gebete wurden erhört/ Prayers were answered

Hallelujah (this word has become a very common word in our household). The Newcastle team sure enough made it through to Townsville, even though the roads were still officially blocked. The team prayed a lot beforehand and also fasted (that was not just because of the journey but they did that in general) and they were sure that they would get through somehow. They were welcomed by a cyclone that was heading towards Townsville. Today they were able to fly to the Philippines.
The Townsville team didn't leave on Sunday but instead they are on their way now and should be arriving in about an hour. Thank you so much for your prayers!

Straßen wieder gesperrt / Roads are closed again

Could you please pray for roads between Mt Isa and Townsville to open up again. The Newcastle Team that is here at the moment has to drive back to Townsville on Sunday. From there they will fly to the Philipines to continue their outreach.
On the same day when the Newcastle Team is leaving a new team (Townsville discipleship training school) is planning on coming. So, it would be good if the roads would be open. At the moment all roads are closed again - even the detour roads.
That's why Mt Isa has a shortage of bread, milk and fresh produce again :-( Well, we will most likely survive. But seriously, all shelves with these kind of groceries have been empty.

Lock Down / Kirche

So, the "lock down" at Youth Street is over. Most of us were able to stay up all night from 6pm to 8am. We watched different movies, played games (cards, playstation, pool, group games with disco light). At the end we all had breakfast together. Then we were happy to get home and sleep.
At night we went to a church where a lot of indigenous go to. Some of the kids also go to Youth Street. The pastor of the church drives around and picks them up for it or on Sundays and Wednesdays for his church.
There are a few pictures of the lock down and of the church tonight. I got a new camera for Christmas (thank you, dad), so I've gotta use it! ;-)

Zurück zur Arbeit / Back to work

Well, you notice that I'm back at home. My blog hasn't been updated as often ;-) At the moment there is a team from Newcastle here. It's a great team. On the 1st of February they will leave again and another team from Townsville will come.
Since we still have school holidays (summer holidays), there isn't as much to do and it was a real challenge for me to find something for the team to do. The problem is also the constant rain that we aren't really used to. All of the sudden you can't just go to Yallambee and play with the kids.
The other day we went to the legal brothel in town and just prayed for the prostitutes and the men that go there ( not personally but in the team's parked van). While we were praying, it poured down raining. Fortunately we sat safely and dry in the van. But at some point Jill and I had to quickly go back to my car since we realised that the street we had parked on had become a stream. I had to drive away quickly so that I wouldn't get any water into my exhaust pipe.
Crazy.
Today we don't have our normal youth program "Youth Street" but a so-called "lock down". Our goal is to stay up all night from 6pm to 8 am, play games and watch movies.

Endlich Zuhause, jippieh!
*************************************************************************
We're finally at home, yeah! And the cool thing is that we didn't even have to go on the detour. We could drive directly to Mt Isa. There was one part of the road that was destroyed but other than that everything was fine.
My car is a little injured from this holiday. It is pretty low and the shocks don't really work (that was already beforehand) and therefore, every bump was a pain for everyone inside. My windshield wipers don't work very well and you can't turn down the driver's window anymore.
And at the end, my muffler started to die and now my car is VERY loud. :-( I guess I have to get it fixed.
But the journey was amazing. Everything was bright green instead of yellow, brown and dry. Every creek was full with water and in general it seemed like we would drive in a swamp since we were surrounded by water. Mt Isa is also really green, as well as our back yard. We still need a little bit of rain to fill the dam. How beautiful could it be here if it rained more often.

2.Versuch / 2nd try

Tomorrow we will try again, this time via a detour (via Winton). At the moment it looks like the roads are clear there. Well, we'll see. The team from Newcastle has arrived in Townsville in the meantime and they will follow us. Please pray for a safe journey, that our vehicles won't be damaged, alertness and that we will get through. We have to count on a 12 hr drive with the detour, so at least 13 hours including gas and toilet breaks.
