But the journey was amazing. Everything was bright green instead of yellow, brown and dry. Every creek was full with water and in general it seemed like we would drive in a swamp since we were surrounded by water. Mt Isa is also really green, as well as our back yard. We still need a little bit of rain to fill the dam. How beautiful could it be here if it rained more often.

Immer noch in Townsville / Still in Townsville

Well, we are still in Townsville. We tried to get through to Mt Isa last Thursday since it looked like the water was coming down but unfortunately that wasn't the case. We drove halfway (more than 400 km) and were stopped by the police after Richmond. They told us to go back. At least we've tried. We unfortunately have to cancel our Youth Street Camp now.
A leader here told me: Why don't you just enjoy being here?
Last Friday the base offered a worship time that was broadcasted by the International House of Prayer in Kansas City. It was a great time. I had the impression that God told me to just refresh in him and use the time here, to spend even more time with him. A few minutes someone came to pray with me and prayed pretty much the same thing.
That changed my perspective on being stuck. Still it would be good for the waters to come down soon. Adam and Jill already think about getting flights to Mt isa but those are really expensive and I would like my car to go with me, too.

Hallelujah!

So, I thought about how easy it is to loose the perspective and be overwhelmed by bad new last night and this morning. I thought about the fact if God really spoke to us about the house that we live in. Because if yes, then you hold on to that no matter what may come.
But if we misunderstood him, then we would have to trust that he has something better for us. In any case, He will provide.
Yesterday I was overwhelmed because I thought about packing, and moving and looking for a new place to live and doing all this while we still have enough programms running.
But at some point I felt convicted about my negative thoughts and asked God for forgiveness. I had forgotten again that He takes care of us and that not the last word has been spoken. When I wrote yesterday's blog, it was the start of renewing my mind and it ended into giving thanks and praise! I don't have to worry, God will make a way.
Well, when we got another call from the house owner, I wasn't too surprised hearing that the interested buyer had changed his mind. Not surprised but still very grateful. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Please pray for Greg, the house owner. Either that he gets someone to buy the house when we have found something else, or that we get the money or that he gets the money he needs from somewhere else.

Flooding eases in Nth Queensland

Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ) says some of the flooding in the state's north-west is beginning to ease.
Heavy rain over the past few days have seen floodwaters cut off several towns including Julia Creek, Doomadgee and Mt Isa, with rain expected to continue throughout the night.
But the Mt Isa EMQ Area Commander Elliott Dunn says in some places the flood levels are starting to drop.
"We've seen a decrease in the rain around Mt Isa, and we're starting to see the waters recede quite quickly," he said.
"At the moment Julia Creek is still cut off in all directions, but we're expecting that to go down within the next 24 to 36 hours."
Cloncurry Mayor Andrew Daniels says locals are welcoming the rain.
For the time being everyone's just very happy to see the rain," he said.
Acting Premier Paul Lucas agrees it is a reversal of fortune for Cloncurry.
"They've now got a situation where water is overflowing over the top of the dam," he said.
Motorists are being urged to stay off flooded roadways and avoid travelling west of Richmond.

Haus Update im neuen Jahr / House update in the new year
Mal sehen, was passiert...

Well, it's not looking good with our house. Today we got the news that someone interested in the house signed the contract to buy it. Now we have 4 weeks to move out. Great :-( Bad timing because Johannes is on holidays until the end of January, we will have an outreach team tehre and we will also hold a Youth Street camp and other activities.
So either a miracle is going to happen and the contract falls through out of whatever reason or we find something amazing where we can move into or we have to be billeted again.
I have to admit when hearing the news, I was a little overwhelmed but since then my perspective has changed a little bit again. God is still faithful and he has everything in his hand and he will also take care of this situation. Even when the circumstances might be totally crazy, I will hold unto that. We'll see what is going to happen...
