Zurück vom Zelten / Back from Camping

So schön grün!

*BACK FROM CAMPING*

I’m back in Townsville!

The time we had was really amazing. I just love camping, maybe because sleeping in a tent reminds me of our family holidays back in the days?! Besides, I had a good waterproof tene which really was a blessing with the weather we had.

But I have to say thought that the way we have camped here was much different than at home.

First of all the location: On a fruitfarm in the rainforest – far away from civilisation, approximately 45 minutes away from the next small town. Surrounded by sugar cane fields. It was really one of the most beautiful places I have been to in Australia. So nice green!

We didn’t have a toilet, that’s why the guys had to dig a hole. On it they put a man-made toilet with a real toilet seat on a big mayonnaise jar without top or bottom.

That’s how we got the entire toilet comfort. Around the toilet there was a big tarp but you could still see the feet of whoever was on it. That was probably also the way to see that the toilet was occupied.

Unfortunately, some of the students had stomach flus or something like that which didn’t make the toilet experience very fun after awhile. J

Shower: The owner of the fruitfarm had already built a bucket shower. You had to fill up the bucket and it had a shower head attached to it. So we only had short, cold showers.

But the food was really the best. We had big gas cookers and the food was really delicious – almost better than in Townsville.
