*English version below*
Man weiss nie, was einen erwartet :)
Fotos folgen
On Saturday we didn’t have “Youth Street” as an exception. And some of the DTS wanted to use that chance to head to Maggie Island. That’s an island which lies right in front of Townsville. You go approx. 15-20 minutes by ferry.
I really didn’t feel like going because it meant getting up at 6am – so like on a normal working day. Since I didn’t have any day off the weekend before (most student arrived that weekend and on Sunday we started the school), I was pretty exhausted. On the other hand I thought that it would be a good opportunity to get to know the students better. And it was really awesome!
When you are on Maggie Island, it really feels like vacation. Beautiful beaches, palm trees, blue water, sun. Amazing! Too sad that we don’t have the chance to always go there. That would be too expensive in the long run. Anyway, it was worth it. We hiked a lot to get to the emptier, beautiful beaches. And we swam.
Jelly fish (or stingers) season is only a few weeks away; then we can’t just go swimming wherever we want to because that could have deadly consequences. A few of the student swam a little further to look at the corals (reef). There they were stung by something. Don’t know what it was but it wasn’t anything dangerous – they are still alive. It felt like a bee sting underwater. Yeah well, Aussie ocean: You never know what to expect.:)
At the end of the day we came home happy, satisfied, tird and with sun burn (even with LFS 30!) and we felt like we got to know each other better. Pictures will follow...
